Power FM Presenter Jailed Over Claims Against Akufo-Addo And Threatening Judges
The Power FM presenter, Oheneba Boamah Bennie, has been jailed over his claims against the President Akufo Addo and judges. The presenter has been handed 14 days jail term on Tuesday by the Accra High Court after Godfred Dame, the Attorney General charged him with contempt. He was fined ¢3000 by the court presided
over by Justice Elfreda Dankyi. Justice Elfreda Dankyi said the 36 year old was guilty of the charge against him. I have been magnanimous, she stated when lead counsel for the broadcaster, Victor Kojoga Adawudu also prayed the court to temper justice with mercy. On December 14, 2020, Criminal Investigation Department
(CID) of the Ghana Police Service arrested the Accra-based Power FM presenter for threatening and insulting President Nana Akufo-Addo. The presenter was also arrested after he honoured an invitation by the CID over the same issue. He was cautioned on the offences of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace
and publication of false news contrary to sections 207 and 208 (1) respectively of the criminal and other offences Act, Act 29/60. Oheneba Boamah is said to have recorded a live video on his Facebook page in which he was heard insulting and issuing series of threats to the President.
