Residents Of Odumto Lament Over Lack Of Electricity
Residents of Odumto in the Amansie Central District of Ashanti Region have lamented over lack of electricity and other social amenities. They say the situation is also hindering economic and social activities in the community. Odumto has a population of about 700 but due to lack of electricity, many residents rely heavily on
solar energy and generators for their economic and domestic activities. Residents told the media it has been like that for the past two years. Nana Okyere and his people are now worried and unable to cope with the situation. They want something done promptly about their long-standing electricity challenge. We have a lot
of problems in this community, government about two years ago came and erected electric poles thinking we were also going to sleep under light but that suddenly appeared to be a dream. We have suffered so much in our community even though we queue every four years to vote for the government, he said. Nana Okyere also
called on authorities to speed up efforts on deplorable roads to also give them a sigh of relief. The Assembly member for the Odumto Electoral Area explained that the electricity challenge is not only rife at Odumto but also the entire electoral area. Mr. George Atobrah called on the District Assembly to come urgently and help alleviate the plight of his electoral area.
